Summer fun, friends, science museum, pool, ocean & the USS North Carolina

I know I am posting this at the end of July but all of this fun really took place in June.  June was a great month.  A lifelong friend of mine (ok minus the diaper years before we met) and her family came from Ohio to visit us!  I enjoyed the visit immensely.  The following pictures are from the NC Science Museum, our local pool and then the USS North Carolina in Ft. Fischer.  I wish I had pictures to post from the days we spent at the beach and I am sad that I did not think to take pictures of Tammy and I together.  =-(  Next time!
We did a picnic style lunch between the science and history museums.
The dinosaurs were exciting but even the common picnic ant held the kid's attention.  They were seeing how quickly a dropped chip would be discovered.
Below is Olivia trying to save a worm.  I'll have to do a post devoted to her love of creepy crawlies.

Staying out of the heat

This is the type of thing that happens when the heat keeps us inside for days on end... mischief. Here is Olivia ON the computer desk with about 1/4 of a bottle of hand lotion all over her and the desk. What this tells me is...we need to get out of the house. Let's go to an air conditioned museum. How about Marbles?  Marbles is a interactive children's museum by us.  The kids can get dressed up and participate in everything from grocery shopping, surfing, soccer, being pirates and doing science experiments.
Daddy helping design Olivia's sun visor.

A giant Connect 4 game!  Very cool.

This little "cubby" actually extends out over the first floor.  Brave girl to go out and look down.

Go team Ireland!

We had a great day at the museum.  Lots and lots to see and do.  Not sure if it just wasn't enough of a outlet to keep Olivia out of mischief or if it was just enough to fuel her imagination.  Below is our chalk weilding, goggle wearing musician.  Guess make believe is fun all the time!
